A Thanksgiving Tradition
The Pittsburg Turkey Trot is more than a race — it’s a community tradition that brings people together before the holiday celebrations begin. Whether you're chasing a personal best, walking with family, or simply starting Thanksgiving morning with friends, the event is designed for everyone.
The downtown course is energetic, welcoming, and filled with runners and walkers of all ages. From first-time participants to longtime racers, the Turkey Trot has become a favorite way to kick off the holiday season together.
Every participant receives a commemorative long-sleeve race shirt and a sweet finisher medal to celebrate the morning.
What to Expect
Thanksgiving morning in downtown Pittsburg feels unlike any other race day. The streets fill with runners in turkey hats, families bundled up with coffee in hand, and spectators cheering from the sidewalks.
Participants can run, jog, walk, or stroll the course at their own pace. Whether you're competitive or just there for the tradition, the morning is built around community, movement, and fun.
The race features chip-timed bibs for accurate results and age group awards for participants of all levels.

We’ll host the award ceremony within 30 minutes of the final participant crossing the finish line.

The Turkey Trot is about more than crossing the finish line — it’s about giving back to the community. Through participant registrations, sponsorships, and community support, the event has raised more than $15,000 for local charitable efforts and nonprofit initiatives.

Are strollers allowed on course?
Yes! We encourage you to bring your little one/s with you on the course.

Is this a pet friendly event?
Of course! We love all pets. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed on the race course.

Can I walk the race?
Yes! This event is for runners, walkers, combination of both. Do it at your own pace.

Where should I park for the race?
There will three City Lots within walking distance to the start/finish line. City Lot 1, 4, and 10. There should also be plenty of parking along the street.

Will the race be cancelled if the weather is bad?
We will run rain or shine, wet or dry! Only in the event of severe weather including lightning will we postpone the start until the weather has passed.
